Mindfulness-Based Practices
Mindfulness includes a two-component model that involves 1) attention to the experience of the present moment, and 2) adopting an orientation of openness and acceptance towards one’s experience. Mindfulness skills work to increase intentional attention to develop a different relationship with one’s thoughts, and practice different strategies in relation to distressing thoughts and emotions in a nonjudgmental way. Mindfulness can assist with improvement of physical health, mental health, and overall wellbeing.

SoulCollage® is a process of creating cards that represent different parts of us and people who have influenced our lives. In creating the cards, we learn more about our lives, ourselves and our purpose. It is fun, relaxing and uplifting. If counseling clients are interested, the SoulCollage®, process can be used in session.

CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on the principle that thoughts influence feelings, feelings influence actions, and actions influence our results. The goal is to challenge and change current thought patterns and behaviors to assist with the alleviation of unwanted symptoms and lead a healthier, more productive life. CBT has been proven to treat depression, aanxiety disorders, low self-esteem, insomnia, phobias/fears, struggling relationships, and everyday stressors.

DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of CBT that aims to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stressors, regulate emotions, and improve relationships with others. DBT can assist with treating symptoms associated with Borderline Personality Disorder, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, thoughts of suicide, and self-harm.

Drama therapy engages the mind and body in the healing process. While the tools come from theatre and the arts, the goals which can include symptom relief, self-attunement, emotional regulation, social engagement, and psychological flexibility, are rooted in psychotherapy.
