Emily Anderson, MA, LPC
Emily Anderson (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned her Masters Degree through Xavier University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. Throughout her graduate training, she received additional training in mindfulness, complex trauma, and medical trauma. Combined with her earlier background in behavioral health, Emily has worked with clients across the lifespan, from preschoolers to older adults. Emily has developed a passion for supporting clients as they navigate self-esteem challenges, grief & loss, traumatic experiences, relationship challenges, burnout, life transitions, as well as other mental health concerns.
Emily takes a holistic, collaborative, and nervous system-informed approach to therapy. She primarily incorporates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). She enjoys bringing somatic and creative practices into therapy, including mindfulness, yoga, movement, and creative arts. Emily has found that many people are used to thinking their way through difficult emotions, striving for perfection, or staying busy to keep moving forward. She helps clients become more connected to their emotions and bodies while exploring how past experiences may continue to shape the way they relate to themselves and others.
At the heart of her work is the belief that you don’t have to “fix” yourself to deserve compassion. Emily believes therapy can be a place to slow down, become curious about the patterns that shape your life, and begin building a different relationship with yourself. Rather than telling clients where they should go, Emily walks alongside them throughout their journey, creating a space where they can feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to explore the uncomfortable parts, and empowered to make meaningful change. She hopes to help clients better understand themselves, feel more connected to their lives, and discover new possibilities for growth and healing.
